The role of a GALLORE Independent Social Worker

Gallore independent social workers are experienced, CORU-registered practitioners appointed to provide impartial, expert assessment to the court. Our role is to act as an independent voice for the child — making sure their best interests, wishes and feelings are clearly and accurately presented in any proceedings that affect them.

Working in child protection and family law, a Gallore independent social worker meets directly with the child, speaks with the family and carers, and consults the wider network around the child — teachers, healthcare professionals and other services involved in their life.

We then provide a thorough, balanced report to the court setting out our findings and recommendations on what is in the child's best interests, alongside the child's own wishes and feelings as we have ascertained them. Our purpose is to ensure the child's voice is heard, their rights upheld, and that they are never overlooked in decisions about their future.
